At UHS, nurses are available for:
- Advice about self-care or when to seek medical care
- Rapid Strep Test
- Pregnancy Testing and options counseling
- Emergency Contraception - no prescription is required if you are over 18 years old; nurses can discuss need/use and also prescribe for under 18 years old
- Diabetes education
- Cholesterol testing
- Blood pressure checks
- Suture removal
- Care for minor wounds
- Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections in Women


Do I need an appointment to see a nurse? No, you can walk in without an appointment or call 734-763-4511 during regular building hours.
Is advice available? Yes, you can talk to a UHS nurse for health advice, including self-care suggestions and recommendations about whether to visit UHS. Call 734-763-4511.
Are crutches available? Yes, the Treatment Centers loans crutches and canes free of charge, although you must return them or pay a fee. You must first see a clinician to be assessed for need and to receive an order. Nurses will provide crutches and instruct on proper use.
