Applications for new peer educators are now closed.

Sexperteam is a diverse group of UM students that educates campus communities about various aspects of sexuality. Our interactive style shows that consensual sexual activity can be healthy, positive and fun!

We can bring sexual health and healthy relationship information to your community, via theater, games and other activities, or partner with your group to do a program. We can tailor a program to meet your needs! See How to Request a Program.

Sexperteam also presents Sexpertise, a free annual event that focuses on conversations about relationships, communication, sex, and sexual health.

What is Sexperteam?

Sexperteam is a diverse group of U-M students who educate people on campus about sexuality and relationships. UHS sponsors the group.

Sexperteam members have spanned many different undergrad majors and graduate-level programs. We share a common interest in creating a campus climate of respect, happy relationships, and if desired & consensual, good sex!

What do Sexperteam members do?

We educate students across the U-M campus about sexuality and relationships, most often through interactive activities or presentations.

Our activities might take place:

  • In on-campus housing
  • In community meeting places/centers
  • With student organizations
  • In sorority or fraternity houses
  • At campus-wide events

Two big events Sexperteam participates in are Relationship Remix and Sexpertise. Relationship Remix is the relationship skill-building workshop for first-year students, co-created and co-facilitated with SAPAC  and U-M Housing.  Sexpertise is a campus-wide annual conference with lots of free sessions on sex and relationships.

Besides leading workshops and activities, members come up with new programs, share information through word-of-mouth and info tables, and receive ongoing training in sexual health.

Do I have to be a “sexpert” to get involved?

Not at all. We train all members with the basic knowledge needed to do our programs. At the same time, we encourage and support one another in continuously building our knowledge about sexuality.

The U-M campus is full of opportunities for learning about sexuality. As a member of Sexperteam, you’ll hear about classes to take, books and movies to take in, and events you can participate in that will build your “sexpertise!”

What are Sexperteam members like?

Sexperteam members:

  • Like working with other students
  • Work well with people with a variety of social identities and cultural backgrounds
  • Are comfortable speaking in front of groups
  • Are non-judgmental and open-minded
  • Are passionate about helping others in their community
  • Want to learn and grow in our skills & knowledge about sexuality education
  • Like talking about sex, safer sex, fun sex, not having sex, decisions about sex, ways to talk about sex, and… sex.

What’s the time commitment?

We participate in:

  • Weekly meetings that last about 90 minutes
  • A day of fall training each year (plus refresher trainings for certain programs)
  • Activities & programs throughout the semester

Because our main function is educating the campus about sexuality, most of our time related to Sexperteam is spent facilitating programs.
