Join the Body-Peace Corps!
We are looking for peer facilitators for a new program on campus designed to help women establish and maintain a positive body image.
What is this program about?
The Body-Peace Corps is based on the Reflections Body Image Academy program developed by Dr, Carolyn Becker at Trinity University.
Using highly interactive, peer-led small groups, the image program is a two-day, intervention program designed by experts and implemented through trained leaders on college campuses throughout North America.
As the first evidence-based eating disorders prevention program, it emphasizes creating and reaffirming positive and healthy personal body image through a variety of structured discussions, activities and exercises. For more information, please check out the Reflections website.
This is the perfect opportunity if you are...
- Passionate about changing the campus culture around body image.
- Wanting to make a difference in the lives of other women on campus
- Interested in learning valuable group facilitation skills
- Studying mental health, medicine, education, communications or social justice
What is the program commitment?
Peer facilitators are expected to attend a 2-day training retreat, and then, along with your team, facilitate at least one workshop per month, and attend monthly meetings. Facilitators are asked to make a six-month commitment. This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity. No prior peer counseling or group facilitation experience is required.
